Question & Answers

Q: Does myself or my child need to have an instrument at home to take a trial lesson?

A: You do not need to have an instrument at home to take a trial lesson. After the trial your teacher will help direct you on how to purchase an instrument. Please contact Alex’s Music Studio before scheduling if you wish to try the violin but do not have one yet.

Q: What brands are good for electric pianos and keyboards?

A: Alex’s Music Studio uses Casio Privia’s electric pianos and keyboards in the studio and highly recommend that brand. Yamaha are also a very trusted brand.

Q: Since my child is just starting, do they need a full size keyboard/piano?

A: Students need at least a 61-key keyboard to begin piano lessons although we recommend an 88-weighted key keyboard, piano, or electric piano. Do not forget to get a stand for the keyboard and everyone needs a piano bench!

Q: My child wants to play an instrument that is not the piano. Do they need to bring their own instrument to lessons?

A: To start an instrument that is not piano, the child must have the correct sized instrument at their lessons. They must bring their instrument from home every week to lessons and then back home again to practice on.
